Representative Mark Born (R-Beaver Dam) Proposes Budget Motion

The motion is gaining much attention this week by those organizations that oppose the LTC changes in the proposed budget.
According to Rep. Born’s budget motion summary: “the governor’s budget proposes wide-ranging changes to the currently Family Care, IRIS, and ADRC programs. These proposed changes affect thousands of individuals across the state. I have heard from groups and constituents who are concerned with the lack of details and clear plan brought forward, leaving them unable to prepare for any changes. I (Rep. Born) am introducing this motion because these proposed changes need further research by the Department of Health Services (DHS), as well as more input from stakeholders to better understand how they will affect participants, their families, and the state.”
The motion identifies supporters as: Disability Rights Wisconsin, Survival Coalition of Wisconsin Disability Organizations, and Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities.
Assembly and Senate Republican caucus members are allowed to submit a certain number of motions (amendments) to the budget. Just because a motion has been introduced does not mean it automatically is considered before the entire Joint Finance Committee. However, as this motion has become more public, it is garnering more attention.
