The Special Committee on Legal Interventions for Persons with Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias has met five times this year to develop legislation for introduction in the state Legislature in 2013. The committee, which met most recently on Dec. 17, developed and has been discussing the following newest bill drafts relating to placement and treatment of persons with a dementia diagnosis:
- WLC: 0061/1, Relating to psychiatric and behavioral care and treatment for individuals with dementia.
- WLC: 0015/3. Involuntary administration of psychotropic medication as a protective service to a person with dementia.
- WLC: 0017/5. Inpatient psychiatric treatment for individuals with dementia.
- WLC: 0018/4. Authorization of an agent under a power of attorney for health care to make certain decisions related to care and treatment of dementia.
